Many novice players are roaming the games at all levels of play.  If you are skillful player, you will have plenty of opportunity to become profitable.  A small deposit is sufficient to get started.  You can play on the low buy-in tables and tournaments, and build your bankroll to the next buy-in level, or you can make a larger deposit so that you can simply jump to the levels that match your bankroll.     

The novice player will gain valuable experience by observing how the more advanced players handle different situations. 

One of the advantages of PokerStars is that games are always available.  I have not found any lag times when playing on this site. 

The games move at a decent pace.  The single table and multi table tournaments are constantly running. Multi table fixed size games are 18, 27, 45 and 180 players.  The payout structure gives you a great return if you make it into the money.  We figured out that on the 45 player table, placing 1^st pays for 13 buy-ins.  Large tournaments with unlimited players are also constantly running as well as cash table games.

How good are you?  I read somewhere that Pro’s make it into the money 25% of the time in tournaments.  In cash games, they walk away winners 75% of the time.
